Kill The Killer Thoughts That Are Trying To Kill You!

As I was waking up one morning the thought came to me, “Kill those Killer Thoughts that are trying to kill you!” it was like a thought that came into my head that was giving me instructions as I was coming out of sleep. I was in awe of it. Immediately I was wide awake, grabbed my pen and pad and started writing.

I knew immediately that “Killer Thoughts” are thoughts that are not productive, positive or life sustaining thoughts. With that in mind I knew that to “Kill” any thought that opposes life would take effort, energy, and discipline on my part, something that had to be done to truly go forward in life.

As I began to think on this I realize that you can’t be passive and expect to be successful. Taking control of your thoughts is work! It is effort on your part to work it out. At first it is not easy, especially when you are in negative situations and it is your lifestyle to act and respond negatively. But begin to train yourself to think positively even in the midst of the negativity.

Become aware of what you are thinking and feeling. What is your body language saying? There are ways that you can do self-checks and set up alarms so to speak to help you seize the moment and “Kill the Killer thoughts that are trying to kill you!” (More on self-checks on later blogs)

You may ask, “How can thoughts be harmful?”

Thoughts actually take up mental real estate. I first heard of this from Dr. Caroline Leaf (www.drleaf.com). They build in your mind whatever you are thinking. Whether negative or positive it builds and determines what your destiny will be.

For example: You may have been told all your life that you are a No-body, either by someone else’s words or actions or even what you thought about yourself due to certain situations.  Those words and thoughts built in you the image of a No-body. To come out of that type of thinking you must change the way you think about yourself and realize that it does not depend on what others say or do or situations or anything else. Treat yourself as you would want others to treat you. You must understand that “You ARE someone special!” “You ARE Unique!” “You ARE Somebody!

Say it, “I am special” “I am Important” “I can do anything that I set my mind to do because nothing is too hard for me.” “I am successful in life” “I am successful in relationships” “I am Beautiful!” “Life IS good!” “I AM SOMEBODY!”

Did you say it or just read it? Say it…go back and actually speak it out loud to yourself. It may feel odd to say this when you have been thinking negatively about yourself, but this process of saying positive things about yourself  regularly will bring about the turning point in your life that will take you out of the negative whirlpool of hopelessness. Start by saying…

What are some of the things that you have been called or told? If it is not good do not agree with it. Start speaking positively about yourself to yourself. Yes, its OK to talk to yourself especially when you are encouraging yourself. Do it! It will make a difference!

What YOU think about YOU Matters.

It is important to think positively about yourself and refuse to think the negative things that others say about you or what you think they say about you. Their thoughts about you or their actions to you do not determine what you are or how you will be in life…unless you take what they say and do and let it become your thoughts. What are YOU thinking?

Refuse to think their thoughts. Refuse to allow someone else to rule your life by the way they talk about you or talk and act to you. It is not their opinion that counts…it is YOUR opinion about YOU that counts. 

Refusing to allow others to speak negative words over you does not mean that you have to confront them in any way but simply refuse to allow their words to penetrate into your soul and become your thoughts toward you. You are special and it’s important that you treat yourself in a manner that helps you to go forward in life.

Thoughts can be destructive or constructive.

Thoughts can ruin the life of those who think negatively. Thought can cause someone to not want to live or go forward in life, yet thoughts can cause one to succeed in life.

Thoughts can cause hopelessness, fear, hate, anger, failure… Thoughts can also cause hope, faith, love, forgiveness, success… You get to choose. It is entirely up to you the thoughts you choose. 

Give Attention to what you are listening to!

To sum it all up…It all comes down to what thoughts you give your attention to. You decide what thoughts you keep. What are you listening to? Is it a keeper? (positive, good)…then keep it.  Is it a looser? (negative, bad)…then cast it away…and replace it with positive and good thoughts. You determine what thoughts you think…choose wisely for it truly is your destiny. What you think about…you bring about.

You can’t blame anyone else. You decide? Whatever you give your attention to creates bigness into it. So choose to think positively about yourself and become who you were designed to be!
