If Worry Was A Noise, How Much Noise Would You Make?

God used “4 quarters” to get my attention! On this eventful day, my husband stopped at a gas station to gas up. As he was pumping gas he noticed that one tire was slack on air. Knowing that we would be going by the air-pump, I instantly retrieved 4 quarters to have ready for him when he needed it.

As I waited for him to finish pumping the gas, I sat rubbing two quarters together in each of my hands, the quarters positioned between my thumb, index finger and middle finger. As I rubbed the new quarters together I was surprised at the noise they made, I thought, “So much louder than the older quarters.”

As I was contemplating the difference, a thought came to my mind, “IF WORRY WAS A NOISE HOW MUCH NOISE WOULD YOU MAKE?” Wow!! That thought grabbed my attention!! It made me stop and think, “How much noise have I been making?” It helped me to see that when one worries they are crowding their minds with a bunch of noise. All designed to distract us from hearing God and staying focused and going forward in life. That day changed my life. I begin to research more about worrying and about thoughts.

I continued my research like digging for treasure I was hungry to know more. As the truth unfolded before me, I was seeing that the true definition of worry is FEAR!

Worrying about something is fearing about it. It is trusting in what it is that we fear and what it can do to us or someone we love. Otherwise why would we worry? So, I made the quality decision to become aware of what I am thinking and resist the temptation to worry.

As I dug on I came across some very interesting facts on the importance of right thinking. I found out that our thoughts have frequencies. What!! Frequencies? Do I hear noise here? Wow! As I continued further into my search for more I saw that I had been making a lot of clanging and bonging noises. Are those real words? But I know it gets the point across.

Yes, I was either releasing bad/noisy/stressful frequencies or good/soothing/at ease frequencies! Basically, noise or music! And my thoughts were not what I would call a symphony, for sure. As I researched this more, I was amazed at the power of our thoughts. My life was beginning to change right before my eyes as all of this was revealed.

I found out that thoughts can break you or make you. They can make you sick or make you well. They can make you stress or make you at ease. Learning to take control of thoughts is truly a process which takes effort to learn. Yet at the same time, it is so rewarding.

I am happier and enjoy life better now as I implement what I have…or should I say, continue to learn. I am even writing a book about thoughts as I have become so intrigued of its unique power in our lives.

Such a simple thing as thoughts have a huge effect in our lives and determines the outcome of how our life plays out. We can turn our lives around by changing the way we think!

Now when I hold quarters in my hand it is much more valuable than 25 cents. It is a reminder to make music and not a bunch of noise!

Prayer: Help us Lord to understand the power of our thoughts and how it affects our emotions and well-being in life. Give us wisdom to change our lives by changing the way we think. Thank you Lord. Amen.
